October 1, 1947
Ben A Sellers, an employee of the Allis-Chalmers Corp. since 1935 (except for military duty during World War II), leaves A-C and founds Salina Tractor Company, Inc., in Salina, Kansas. The distributorship represents Allis-Chalmers, Schield-Bantam, and several other lines.
October 1955
Salina Tractor moves into a totally new facility at 400 N. Chicago St. in Salina and celebrates with a gigantic "Buffalo Feed".
October 1961
The initial territory of 28 north central and northwest Kansas counties is expanded to 42 counties.
May 1969
A new "brother" company is formed under the name of Sellers Tractor Co., Inc., at 1645 S. West St. in Wichita, Kansas. The territory consists of 23 south central and southeast Kansas counties formerly served by Jack Spratt Road Machinery. Also, the name of Salina Tractor Company is changed to Sellers Tractor Company. A holding company, Sellers Companies, Inc., is formed. It owns both operating companies.
March 1973
Sellers Tractor Co., Inc. of WIchita expands its operation into 22 southwest Kansas counties, succeeding Southwest Equipment Co., of Dodge City.
May 1973
Sellers Tractor Co., Inc., of Salina expands its operations into northeast Kansas by establishing a facility in Topeka, thus completing coverage of the State of Kansas. This operation is started from scratch as there was no existing dealer operation in Topeka.
February 1976
Southwest Kansas operations are moved from Dodge City into a totally new facility in Garden City.
January 1979
Sellers Tractor Company becomes a distributor of HYSTER lift trucks. The users of this type of equipment represent a totally different industry than the users of construction equipment. Therefore, a separate Sales Department and Service Department are set up to service this new customer base.
October 1980
The second generation at Sellers Tractor assumes leadership. David P. Sellers is promoted to President of the Company.
November 1984
The Topeka operation is moved into a totally new facility at 3030 S.W. 57th St.
January 1987
Sellers Tractor Company's in-house publication Sellers Fellers receives first-place nationwide honors from the Construction Industry Manufacturers Association (CIMA).
October 1997
Sellers Tractor celebrates its first half-century of providing quality equipment and service to customers throughout Kansas.
April 2006
Sellers opens new location in Olathe to service the Kansas City area. A spectacular "Grand Opening" is held at the Kansas Speedway in Kansas City.
